What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Large CAP Project Execution position at Messer North America, Inc.?
Purpose of Position:
Leadership and accountability for executing assigned projects (generally >35,000,000 in CAPEX) from release through handover to Operations. Execution includes engineering, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, HSEQ, and project reporting.
Support of the Business Development Process of all new capital projects including IC stage gate process and corporate approval process.
Training and Development of Project Managers to support Messer’s business.
Development and implementation of appropriate tools and procedures for Project Execution in conjunction with the Direct of Mid CAP Projects.
Drive the construction and commissioning program for Project Engineering and Execution Americas.
Principal Responsibilities:
Deliver Projects as assigned: Safely; to Specification, on Schedule, on Budget.
Support Project Proposal team with appropriate technical, execution, schedule and cost data
Ensure scope definition is consistent with Messer practices.
Work closely with plant suppliers and Project Proposal team to identify the best execution strategy.
Ensure a consistent approach is adopted for projects such as standards, safety, etc within and across the respective Hub.
Ensure the Vice President, Project Engineering and Execution Americas is properly appraised of short- and medium-term issues with both the members of the team and the proposals/projects in execution.
Review of plant supply contracts in conjunction with Procurement
Departmental cost and discipline management
Development, implementation and application of Department Execution processes, standards and specifications.
Development of the personnel both personally and as a team
Accountable for any project to which he/she is duly assigned
Assist in the development of annual cost center budgets as required.
Approvals for costs and requisitions up to assigned DoA
Interface with key stakeholders for project delivery (Operations, HSEQ, Procurement, Legal, IT, HR, Customers, BD)
Drive proper project reporting for those projects assigned to the Department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in relevant Engineering Discipline.
- In depth knowledge and experience of Project Management and the various execution options.
- At least 10 years’ experience in project execution and management
- Fluency in spoken/written English
