What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weld Instructor/Testing position at METAL TRADES?
An individual qualified to instruct, plan, manage, and teach proper use of welding equipment and techniques. Strong knowledge and experience in SMAW, MIG, TIG, FCAW, AWSD1.1, shop safety, and welding theory. May train individuals on various welding processes to include but not limited to: Mig Pulse/Spray, Fluxcore, Tig, Stick, etc. on structural steel. Will also train individuals on proper usage of various tools. Must have a thorough understanding of welding codes, definitions, symbols, specifications, and drawings. Will be performing all weld testing and will be required to visually inspect welds. Will provide feedback and instructions on good quality welds as well as defects in unacceptable welds. Will keep proper records for training, testing and documentation. Will keep weld test and training area clean and safe. Will follow and enforce all company policies including safety rules and quality standards. Will provide re-training when necessary. Must have a detailed knowledge of steel manufacturing processes including welding, fitting, and processing. Conveys verbal and written communications to the management team. Must have experience in MS Office, Word and Excel. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience, and judgment, to plan/accomplish goals of assigned tasks Performs a variety of tasks in support of the company Quality Program. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Supervision: Works under general supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager.
Education: May require a high school diploma or equivalent and 2– 4 years of related experience.
