What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician (Pharmacy) position at Metcalf Compounding Pharmacy?
Metcalf Compounding Pharmacy is a compounding only pharmacy providing customized medications to the people (and pets) of Transylvania County and the surrounding communities.
Responsibilities will include:
- Weigh ingredients correctly and process them following quality assurance guidelines in the provided formula worksheet specifications
- Prepare different kinds of compounds including suspensions, creams, solutions, ointments, capsules, suppositories, troches, and pet treats
- Package and label prepared compounds in suitable dispensing tool
- Place and confirm that the beyond use date on the patient’s product label is correct
- Send prepared compound and documentation to supervising pharmacist for verification and sign off
- Perform daily confirmation that all equipment are working well, including capsule machines, counters, and cleaning balances
- Ensure all equipment, including freezer/fridge temperatures and weights on scales at work station are verified and maintained every morning
- Take part in store meetings, as well as in relevant educational programs and mandatory trainings
- Inventory management to include: ordering of bulk chemicals and supplies for lab; removal of expired ingredients; anticipating needed medications and supplies
- Receive and verify prescriptions
- Package and ship medications
- Answer phone calls and patient questions and requests
- Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Responsible for accurate data entry and maintenance of patient profiles and medications
- Maintain and keep reasonable production as determined by supervisor
- May assist in orienting and training new employees
- May be asked to handle special projects as well as perform other duties that may be assigned

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
