General Job Summary
As a Teacher Assistant, you'll play a pivotal role in creating a dynamic, child-centered educational environment. You'll work hand-in-hand with our dedicated classroom staff to bring our program's philosophy to life, ensuring each child receives the best possible start in their educational journey.
Major Responsibilities
- Engage Young Minds: Assist in crafting and maintaining a vibrant, child-centered educational environment by supporting all classroom activities as directed.
- Embody Core Values: Live out the Core Values of Methodist Home for Children daily, adhering to the policies and procedures of both the agency and the early childhood program.
- Standards of Excellence: Maintain the highest standards as set by the Division of Child Development, Department of Sanitation, and follow the Infant Toddler Environment Rating Scale (ITERS) or the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS).
- Collaborate & Learn: Regularly seek guidance from supervisory staff, share detailed information on significant issues affecting the children in your care, and implement feedback effectively.
- Grow Professionally: Complete ongoing training and education as directed by the early childhood program leadership.
- Flexibility: Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher, Education Coordinator, and/or Director.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: At least one year of verifiable experience working with young children, preferably in a childcare center.
- Screenings: Must pass Methodist Home for Children's background screening policy and additional screenings including fingerprints and NC Division of Child Development Early Education (DCDEE) background check.
- Paid Holidays: Enjoy paid holidays each year.
- Vacation Leave: Accrue 10 days (80 hours) of vacation leave in your first partial calendar year.
- Sick Leave: Accumulate 12 days (96 hours) of paid sick leave per calendar year, with carryover.
