Job Description:
Metro Ready Mix, LC., is part of a local, family owned and operated paving company that has been in business since 1966. We are proud to offer a, Earn While You Learn Class B Driver Opportunity. We are looking for self-motivated, dependable, and honest individuals who are interested in a career as a driver. Metro will pay the tuition for the Class B course.
Upon successful completion of the course and obtaining your Class B CDL you will begin a 30 day training period at Metro with one of our trainers where you will be trained in driving a dump truck and concrete mixer.
No experience needed. You must be at least 18 years old to enter the program.
Rate of Pay is $19/Hr. while in the program. It will go to $21/Hr. upon successful completion of the course and up to $24/hr.
following the 30 day training. You will need to obtain and hold your permit for 2 weeks prior to the start of the program.
As a Class B CDL Driver you will drive dump trucks and concrete mixers.
This position requires complete compliance with all DOT, OSHA and Metro Ready Mix, LC regulations and standard operating procedures. As a CDL driver you will be responsible for daily inspections. A day as a driver at Metro Ready Mix may include hauling rock, sand from the quarry to our plant or job site, hauling wet concrete from the plant to a job site or outside customers.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a CDL permit to begin the program, with acceptable driving record.
- Must have and maintain a valid commercial driver’s license following the initial 2 week training, with acceptable driving record.
- Adheres to all OSHA and DOT regulations, and Metro Ready Mix policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
- Authorization to work in the United States is required. (Metro Group utilizes E-Verify)
- Successful completion of a pre-employment DOT physical examination and DOT drug screening.
- Must pass a background check.
- Ability to obtain a security badge at the Eastern Iowa Airport is necessary.
- 10 Hour OSHA Certification – must have or be willing to get. (The company will provide)
- First Aid/CPR and BBP certification – must have or be willing to get. (The company will provide)
- Availability to work over 40 hours per week, including weekends if necessary for the job, is essential.
- Must adhere to all DOT regulations at all times.

- Occasionally reading fine print.
- Working regularly on a computer and/or tablet.
- Being exposed to outdoor elements (hot and cold) for extended times.
- Occasionally working from levels over 4 feet from the ground (such as a ladder)
