JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Provide academic assistance for Metropolitan Community College (MCC) MATH courses and related topics in other courses.ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
- Help students understand math-related topics covered in courses at MCC and to recognize, develop, and apply appropriate study strategies and skills.
- Provide assistance to faculty and staff related to mathematics in MCC courses across the college.
- Assist with technology resources in the Math Center.
- Assist with other tasks and documentation related to Math Center operations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and ability to tutor basic mathematics through Calculus (MATH 2410) and Statistics required; through Calculus III (MATH 2412) is preferred and knowledge of Differential Equations is a plus.
- Ability to communicate and exercise tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment in stressful situations, showing area-wide leadership.
- Ability to communicate with individuals with diverse social and academic backgrounds, learning styles, and capabilities.
- Ability to promote and maintain an attitude of initiative and acceptance of responsibility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree, Bachelor degree preferred or equivalent
- One (1) year related work experience.
