The Mental Health Professional is a practicing clinician who offers direct services to participants in one-to-one counseling and therapeutic groups; connects underserved individuals in our communities to mental health, co-occurring, or chemical dependency services, works closely with family members and conducts Utilization Reviews with Managed Care Organizations (MCOs). The MHP is self-motivated, conscious of self-care, compassionate, and acknowledges the ability to perform with decorum and positivity in situations involving high levels of stress and crisis. This is a Monday - Friday full time day shift opening. $32/hour.
The MHP will work and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, family/friends of participants and outside agencies for the benefit of the participants. External contacts may include: providers at other organizations, court personnel, employers, DSHS, hospital staff, law enforcement, pharmacy personnel, and others that the MDC participants feel are important to their recovery. Conversations often include information of a confidential nature, so care must be taken to prevent inappropriate disclosure of MDC guest treatment information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical services, including screening, assessment, treatment planning, individual counseling, group counseling, clinical authorizations and crisis intervention.
- Responsible to maintain confidentiality of participant’s information in accordance with MDC policies.
- Provide daily progress notes of participants that meet WAC standards as “Mental Health Professional (MHP) Notes
- Assist in planning and implementing the goals and objectives of programs and projects
- Assist participants with discharge plans
- Make appropriate referrals to other treatment services
- Provide follow up as assigned.
- Provide training and on-going education as outlined in the treatment plan of participants.
- Develop treatment plans, early intervention plans, safety plans and recovery action plans with participants.
- Provides support to nursing clinical staff when screening referrals from community
- Perform crisis intervention.
- Assure confidentiality is always maintained.
- Establish and maintain proper role awareness and appropriate boundaries
- Complete administrative documentation in a timely and accurate manner, to include but not limited to time sheets, time off requests, etc.
- Complete and document any and all required training in a timely manner.
- Provide annual documentation to your first line supervisor of training, certifications, as well as any documentation that is required for your position.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a generally recognized counseling related clinical discipline from an accredited college or university
- 1 year or more of mental health clinical experience
- All necessary State credentials/certifications required (i.e.: License or Agency Affiliated Counselor and Mental Health Professional (MHP) Certification.
- Must be able to work flexible hours to meet individual’s and program’s needs.
- Knowledge of group and individual mental health counseling, diagnosis, and treatment of major mental disorders, assessments and treatment planning, and de-escalation/crisis intervention techniques.
- New Applicants of the Department of Health Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor must be in pending status by first 7 days of employment.
