In collaboration with community partners in Chicago and dedicated funders, MFS established in response to record levels of homicide and community violence. The goal of this initiative is to provide a comprehensive, long-term approach to reduce homicides resulting from gun violence. This framework brings together community-driven strategies that empower community-based organizations to intervene with those individuals at the highest risk of driving the violence while working with the overall resident population to transform perceptions and realities of their community. This holistic framework responds to high-risk incidents while also being proactive in preventing situations. A goal of this strategy is to increase the collaboration of community-based organizations across communities.

We are now hiring for a full-time BEHAVIORAL HEALTH DIRECTOR to join our Team! 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees the administrative operations of Metropolitan Peace Initiatives Behavioral Health/Clinical Services
  • Supervises and coordinates all aspects of the programs including items related to service, community groups and personnel matters.
  • Develops and coordinates monthly clinical services meetings including case managers, victim services, therapist and other direct services staff
  • Responsible for maintaining quality and quantity of services. Keeps abreast of client service needs and participates in planning for them.
  • Assures appropriate integrations of multi-service, multi-disciplinary, and systems approach to program.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with community groups relating to program needs. 
  • Works collaboratively with community agencies, organizations, and institutions.
  • Works collaboratively with other program supervisors in unit to carry out unit goals and look for other opportunities for program development.
  • Works effectively with diverse staff and service population.
  • Provides Clinical supervision to counselors/social workers seeking clinical licensure.  
  • Provide clinical supervision and facilitate team meetings for social work staff and MSW interns engaged as part of the Metropolitan Peace Initiatives Behavioral Health/Clinical Services, motivating and supporting social workers to meet programmatic goals while maintaining a high standard of care ensuring all people are treated with dignity and respect
  • Trains staff, interns, Metropolitan Peace Initiatives partners, and external partners on Trauma Informed Care
  • Develops Network database of trauma informed clinical services to support participant and programmatic needs.
  • Tracks caseload numbers and participant  outcome data and provide timely reports to the Director of Programs, as requested;
  • Collaborates with Metropolitan Peace Initiatives and external partners to provide targeted supportive services to participants
  • Communicate with city/state (e.g., Director of Community Policing) and provide updates to key stakeholders
  • Liaison to Street Outreach partner to maximize community supports during off-deployments
  • Lead weekly strategy meetings
  • Attend Reginional Coordination meeting and build relationships with citywide violence reduction partners
  • Provides emergency support to Metropolitan Peace Initiatives partners and participants in crisis;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 10 years experience as a program supervisor with increasing levels of responsibility. 
  • Supervisors who supervise Social Workers must have an LCSW or LCPC and five years post masters experience. 
  • Other certification or licensure as required. 
  • Mobility for travel. 
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated superior skills with families or communities.
  • Demonstrated competence in consultation, teaching, and writing 

 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • MFS staff are required to provide proof of vaccination or have an approved Medical exemption prior to starting employment. If an approved Medical exemption is obtained, weekly testing is required. 

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

 SALARY:

  • Compensation is commensurate with years of related experience, position requirements, and candidate qualifications. The average salary for the position is $95,000.
