What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Operator I position at Metropolitan Sewerage District?

Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled to skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of sewerage lines, locating breaks, leaks, and stoppages, and operation of motorized equipment and vehicles. Uses various associated equipment, hand tools, and power-driven equipment for the Metropolitan Sewerage District of Buncombe County. Work involves operating a variety of vehicles and equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of sewerage lines. Work also involves performing manual labor tasks while not operating equipment. Physical strength and endurance are required to perform manual labor for extended periods of time, possibly in adverse weather and working conditions. Initiative and independence of action are required while operating equipment at the work site. Reports to the Construction Crew Leader or System Services Construction Manager.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
· Graduation from high school or GED, or equivalent experience
· 0 to 2 years of experience in line construction work
· Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina.
· CDL-A preferred
· Ability to read, add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Pay: $20.30 - $22.19 per hour
