Summary:
Responsible to plan and monitor bids, quotations, and purchase orders. This position is also responsible for coordinating vendor qualifications and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) agreements.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

1. Prepare bid packages, develop new sources of supply, and obtain bids.
2. Analyze vendor qualifications and prepare cost/price analysis.
3. Tabulate quotations, issue purchase orders, and negotiate sole source and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) agreements.
4. Prepare MTA Board submittals.
5. Control high value, critical, and sensitive procurements.
6. Perform other assignments as requested by Senior Management.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field is required or demonstrated equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of the degree, subject to approval.
2. Must possess a minimum of four years in a Procurement & Logistics Department, including a minimum of two years as a Senior Buyer or other Supervisory Level.
3. Must possess extensive knowledge of procurement principles and techniques.

Preferred/Desirable Skill/Qualification:

1. Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (APP) and/or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM).

In addition to meeting the minimum requirements of the position, the selection process may include, but is not limited to a pre-screening assessment (i.e., physical, written and/ or practical evaluation) and interview. Candidates forfeit further consideration in the process if they fail to participate in any step of the process when scheduled. Make up dates/times will not be given. In addition, LIRR employee applicants must be in their current position for the 12 months immediately preceding the close date of this posting and must possess a satisfactory work history, including attendance and discipline record.
