The project manager has complete responsibility for executing major contracts awarded to the Company for the original design or redesign and retrofit of equipment or systems. This includes establishing the basic design concept and seeing that the equipment is supplied and/or installed within budget and on schedule. The project manager must be able to apply their strong knowledge of contracts and contract law. An extensive background in large mechanical equipment is preferred including design, manufacturing, installation, and operations. This individual must be skilled at recognizing solutions to customer's problems, selling the solution to the customer and seeing that the solution is installed within budget and schedule.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Organizes incoming contracts and issues necessary announcements to internal departments on scope, commitments, budgets, and schedules.
Works with engineering staff to establish the design concepts and approves the final facility planning drawings.
Coordinates the engineering work and effects resolution of problems between disciplines.
Reviews drawings, specifications, and requisitions for consistency with the contract.
Establishes controls on budgets, cash flows, and schedules and monitors it. Initiates action for deviations.
Effect resolution of subcontractor, interdepartmental, and client-related problems and issues.
Participates with Buyer in selection and award of major subcontracts and purchased equipment.
Manages and coordinates fieldwork. Works to minimize field changes. Sees that proper staffing is maintained.
Sees that all company, governmental and client documentation is prepared accurately and timely.
Negotiates contract close out with subcontractors and clients.
Encourages safety. Sees that all company and job site rules are followed.
Promotes a positive company image with clients and vendors. Aggressively promotes company products and services.
Understands potential customer's needs and effectively proposes technical solutions to meet those needs.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Training:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business, or equivalent experience
Experience:
5 years’ of experience
Working experience with engineering, procurement, fabrication, quality control, construction contracts, commercial terms, scheduling, and cost control
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Superior Project Management skills are required.
Excellent skills in dealing with customers, vendors and other company personnel.
Excellent client management and business literacy skills.
Good selling competences, including public presentations, are essential.
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support, motivate others and achieve results
Mechanical and/or Electrical aptitude and ability to read drawings is necessary.
Able to travel domestically and internationally and be able to stay in remote areas for up to a week at a time. Must be able to travel by air and drive a car.
Manage multiple conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to understand domestic and international matters to meet domestic and international objectives.
Be flexible and available to interact with customers as required.
Be self directed and motivated.
Take initiative to identify and anticipate customer needs and make recommendations for implementation.
Must be computer literate and proficient with word processing and spreadsheet software.
Working knowledge of SAP and the SAP Project Module preferred.
