Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for corporate finance and accounting? MCL Construction is seeking an Accounting Coordinator to join our dynamic team. This role offers a unique opportunity to support a wide range of corporate finance functions, from insurance administration to vendor compliance and financial reporting.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential functions of the role include, but are not limited to, the following:
Corporate Functions
- Coordinates the processing of insurance claims (vehicle, builder’s risk, property, etc.) as necessary
- Reviews insurance invoices for accuracy
- Manages the processing of builder’s risk insurance and submits reports to broker monthly; compares project billings to actual expenses monthly and reports variances to Controller
- Assists with the administration of company insurance, including change requests and endorsement process
- Supports Scare Away Cancer Foundation (invoicing, thank you/tax deductible letters, data entry)
- Runs various reports for Controller as requested (Procore billings, job billing projections, etc.)
- Provides backup support to front desk when needed
Project-Specific Functions
- Updates new and renewal subcontractor Certificates of Insurance (COIs) in the accounting system, reaches out to vendors regarding any needed changes, communicates noncompliance to Controller
- Communicates incomplete subcontract documents to project managers and subcontractors prior to a pay application being ready to pay (missing subcontracts, Payment and Performance Bond, pre-qualifications, insurance)
- Assists in the setup of new projects using designated software
- Manages the subcontractor prequalification process
- Assists with Tax Exempt Forms 13 and 17 as requested by vendors
Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Functions
- Processes new vendor credit applications
- Processes company credit cards using designated software; assists users with questions/issues reviews outstanding transactions and sends reminders when appropriate, reviews final approvals for sales/use tax implications, uploads transactions to accounting system
- Monitors outstanding invoices in the approval process, sends reminders when appropriate, monitor for sales/use tax implications
- Assists Accounting Manager in generating and troubleshooting accounts receivable discrepancy reports
- Works with project accountants and estimators to assign appropriate expense codes in designated software
- Assists the Accounting Manager in the review of AP vendor statements, as requested
- Assists project accountants with monthly billing process, as requested
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Two to five years’ progressive experience in accounting
- Candidates with an acceptable combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Experience in construction industry highly preferred
KNOWLEDGE
- Sage 300 experience preferred but not required

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch or crawl. The employee may be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is a typical office setting unless at a construction site. This position requires occasional visits to active construction sites.
