POSITION: Field Team – Communications Department (Spring/Summer 2025) - Long Island
About the Job: The Metropolitan Golf Association, located in Elmsford, N.Y., is seeking Field Team members to assist the Communications Department throughout the MGA’s Championship Season. The assignments involve traveling throughout the tri-state area (can be region specific) to MGA Sectional Qualifying Rounds for Championships, as well as WGA and LIGA events, and USGA qualifying rounds conducted by the MGA, to oversee scoring operations (including data entry and reporting). He/she may also assist with scoring and other general tasks at MGA Championships and member club events as needed.
What You'll Do
At Sectional Qualifying Rounds:
- Oversee live scoring operations utilizing online tournament software, provide instructions to competitors and troubleshoot as needed.
- Set up TV for live leaderboard/manage physical scoreboard (as needed); responsible for transportation of TVs and event kits to on-site events.
- Publish full tournament results on www.mgagolf.org.
- Write a brief recap of the event summarizing the day and take photos as needed.
- Contribute to social media coverage of the event throughout the day.
At MGA Championships (as needed):
- General live scoring and event coverage assistance.
Essential Qualifications
- Strong writing and communications skills.
- Ability to work as a team and work closely with MGA staff and volunteers.
- Ability to work with PCs, tablets, smartphones, TVs, and DSLR cameras.
- Ability to travel by car throughout tri-state area (MGA serves New Jersey, Long Island, Westchester, the Hudson Valley, and Fairfield County) and work long hours several times a week.
- Working knowledge of/interest in golf.
