PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Works on construction projects using carpentry skills to build components such as stairs, partitions, cabinets, molding, windows and doors, construct forms, and subflooring. Works with a variety of construction materials, as well as hand, pneumatic, and power tools and small machinery. RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains all safety standards. Builds stairs and installs partitions. Installs window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, and basic hardware (interior and exterior). Installs cabinets and molding. Erects and works on scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level. Operates hand and power tools, including chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and erect structures. Operates small machinery, as needed. Works with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass or drywall. Joins materials with nails, screws, staples, adhesives, and other applicable tools. Identifies, reports or corrects potential hazards associated with task assignments to maintain a safe work area. Loads and unloads materials up to 100 pounds. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (requirements before going into job) To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, or be capable of learning, each primary responsibility satisfactorily. Experience in rough and finish carpentry (blocking, frames/doors and hardware, millwork and casework), or equivalent level of education, knowledge and skills. Familiarity with field concepts, practices and procedures. Proven ability to accurately perform construction activities or projects, including usage of various power tools and small machinery. Good interpersonal skills and team spirit. Demonstrated success in working safely on projects. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contract documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprints/plans. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Mathematical Skills: Ability to do basic construction math, including measuring, transposing, calculating cut lengths and basic volumes. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to pass background check, drug screen, physical capacity profile, and E-Verify. Reliable transportation method to get to and from work. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OSHA 10-hour training. Applicable certifications, such as Lift Operation, Scaffold, etc. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the primary responsibilities of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
