Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Position Summary: Prepares and dispenses parenteral and enteral and oral medications, monitors patient drug therapies, and provides drug information. Directs support personnel. Can work independently while following departmental policies and procedures. What the Pharmacist II will need: Five year bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy. Current registered pharmacist license and controlled substance license issued by the Michigan State Board of Pharmacy. Preferred: One year of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy. Knowledge of drug regimen review, pharmacy software for order entry, allergy screening, drug interactions, and other related topics. What the Pharmacist II will do: Reviews, prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician order or prescription according to established policies, procedures, and protocols. Can work independently but stays within departmental policies and procedures. Ensures safe, appropriate, cost effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures and protocols. Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department. Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to physicians, as needed.
