The Miami Township Recreation Department is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic individuals to join our team as Part-Time Summer Camp Counselors. This is a fantastic opportunity for teens and adults who have a passion for working with kids and love engaging in crafts, sports, and outdoor activities. As a counselor, you will help create a fun and safe environment where children can learn, grow, and have fun during the summer months.
Summer camp counselors will be responsible for:
- Lead and supervise children ages 4-17 in a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and outdoor adventures.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers during camp activities, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment.
- Foster teamwork, positive behavior, and conflict resolution among campers.
- Assist with setting up, organizing, and cleaning up after camp activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on their child's activities and behavior as needed.
- Encourage and motivate children to try new activities, develop skills, and make lasting friendships.
- Assist with camp planning and preparation when necessary.
- Be a role model for campers, promoting positive values and respect.
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- Must be at least 15 years old.
- Prior experience working with children is preferred but not required (camp, babysitting, coaching, etc.).
- Strong interest in crafts, sports, and outdoor activities.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with staff, children, and parents.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and patient demeanor with a passion for helping kids grow.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and keep a calm and focused attitude during busy moments.
- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred but not required; will be provided if necessary).
