JOB SUMMARY:
- Responsible for building and delivering a stable, secure, and efficient network, telecom, server and storage infrastructure environment for Michigan First’s business operations. Implements network infrastructure to support growth. Performs break\fix duties as needed to ensure Michigan First can continue to serve our members.
- The position will provide engineering and administration duties of circuits, routers, switches, firewalls, IPS, phone system, and other technical support functions to support business operations.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implementation engineer aiding in the deployment and maintenance of LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
- Network LAN/WAN infrastructure support including switches, routers, web-filters, load balancers and monitoring services.
- Contact voice and data network carriers for services and support issues.
- Voice system administration and support, including applications that involve call-path monitoring, call center scripts and applications, phone MACs, voice mailbox, emergency responder and any third-party add-on. The Call Center is 24x7 and support is also 24x7.
- Acts as a backup for the Senior Network Engineer for firewalls and security systems.
- Documentation of network infrastructure and standards and practices.
- Installation, configuration, and maintenance of LAN/WAN infrastructure, network security, and servers
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, install and perform testing on network peripherals, data communication and computer network systems. Assemble, install, configure and test units of LAN and WAN requiring use of standard upgrades/protocols
- Install software, patches and upgrades for network hardware as needed to ensure security and stability.
- Works with the Support center to ensure adequate monitoring and alerting for all network infrastructure nodes.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all data communication and/or peripheral equipment. Test and adjust to appropriate standards
- Works with vendors to implement or remove low voltage cabling as necessary.
- Attain and maintain a reliable technology infrastructure for the credit union that results in a high degree of information protection, ease of access, and integrity of member information, as well as maximizing the use of current technology to enhance internal business procedures.
- Vendor Management including key relationships, contracts, and service level management.
- Learn basic functionality of our financial system as it relates to networks, servers, call center and peripheral appliances.
- Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- Provide level 2 support to the Technical Help Desk as well as end users as needed.
- Must be willing to perform 2nd level On Call responsibilities after hours and on weekends as part of an on-call support team.
- Support the IT Operational processes, change, incident and problem.
- Occasional after-hours work as necessary
- Actively participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Strong knowledge of Cisco Routing and Switching protocols. Able to perform in-depth troubleshooting of network issues.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco phone systems; knowledge of Cisco Call Center Express would be extremely helpful.
- Knowledge of basic Windows server and Active Directory architecture are also desired.
- Previous experience with Firewalls, IDS\IPS, and web traffic filtering.
- Able to create accurate and detailed documentation and diagrams of networks and intended traffic flows.
- Knowledge of SDWAN concepts.
- Current knowledge of Industry Best Practices relating to Network and Telecom disciplines.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelors’ degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of education/certifications and experience. CCNA Minimum required.
- 5 years of progressive Network and Security experience.
- 5 years of experience managing large complex network
- Familiarity with Telecommunications services (T1s, MPLS, ISP services, voice services, etc.)
- In depth knowledge of Routing, Switching, TCP/IP and DNS
- In depth knowledge of firewall concepts.
- Knowledge of ITIL Foundation a plus.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to team members and management of the organization
- Voice systems administration and support (VoIP, PBX, SIP, Queues, and Unified Messaging).
- Ability to work under pressure and within specific guidelines
- Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple priorities, coordinates internal and external vendors, and communicates to management.
- Fully knowledgeable in credit union terminology and acronyms commonly utilized in the day-to-day communication of staff, policymakers and others involved in the credit union system.
