What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Specialist position at Mid-America Overseas, Inc.?
- Provide excellent Customer Service to ensure customer issues are resolved and communicate with all parties in a transaction in a clear, concise, professional manner
- Coordinates air and ocean freight forwarding of international shipments.
- Processing of US Customs entries in accordance with US Customs and all other government agency guidelines.
- Maintains complete regulatory compliance with any related government agencies such as local, US domestic and applicable foreign agencies, and verify that all government and agency compliance and regulatory requirements are properly addressed.
- Must maintain account information according to client requirements, change in contact, special instructions and any other additional or revised specific requirements.
- Negotiate rates with carriers; prepare and submit quotations to prospective accounts on a daily basis.
- Review export documents for accuracy
- Prepare and present Letter of Credit Documents
- Dispatch export loads and cargo pick-ups, confirm cargo delivered to carrier
- Track export shipments and advise customer of potential schedule changes if applicable for the client
- Prepare export documents, file AES and Bill of Lading Instructions prior to vessel cut-offs.
- Ensure timely distribution of transport documents and billing of freight
- Problem solve with the Branch Manager when situations arise that can or do negatively affect our clients and their customers
- Punctual follow up to all inquiries, including RFI's, RFQ's and all other customer, agent and MAO partner office inquiries
- Daily interactions and departmental performance reporting to local management.
Working knowledge FCL, LCL and Consolidations for Import transportation and break-bulk freight.
Excellent customer service and communication skills required.
Requirements
- Knowledge of US Customs Regulations regarding US Exports
- Country Requirements competence
- Letter of Credit knowledge and experience preferred
- Good transportation background, FCL, LCL, rating, routing, documentation
- Ability to work in a fast paced demanding environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Export experience minimum 2 years
- High school diploma, 2 or 4 year college degree beneficial
