Summary: Under the supervision of the Mold/Core Department Supervisor, the Molder is responsible for making green sand molds for pouring.
Work Experience Needed: One to three years of verifiable work history. Foundry experience is preferred. Experience in making molds is a plus.

Nature & Scope-Principal Areas of Responsibilities: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management deems necessary from time to time.
  • Accurately reviews production schedule to obtain part number
  • Retrieves pattern and sets up for molding needed for each job
  • Fills flask with green sand (riddle as needed)
  • Follow all work instructions to properly finish the mold.
  • Vents, pull risers, sets cores etc. – Air Ram as needed.
  • Closes mold and ensure high quality.
  • Sets each mold on a pallet
  • Covers all risers, vents, and down sprues
  • Retrieves and puts away used patterns accordingly
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment and ensures the work area is clean at the end of each shift.
  • Assists in other departments in the Foundry as required.
  • Operates a forklift to transport materials as required.
  • Reports all accidents and unsafe working conditions immediately to the supervisor.

The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach above shoulders, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear and use foot/feet to operate machine, talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items between 10 to 50 pounds unassisted. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
