What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Services and Health Specialist position at Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency?

The Family Services & Health Specialist assists in the administration of the health program requirements, the day-to-day operation of a Head Start site, and drives the bus as assigned.

SPECIFIC DUTIES OF THE JOB:

1. Completes health reports and the tracking of health services.

2. Collects data and prepares reports for various Head Start and Early Head Start staff members including the Health and Nutrition Coordinator, Site Manager, and others as requested.

3. Reviews and monitors data for completeness and accuracy.

4. Updates health files and social service data as requested.

5. Schedules appointments for health, dental or disability services and takes children and parents to appointments as required

6. Keep parents informed through letters, newsletters, home visits, and telephone calls.

7. Prepares children for services prior to the day of service to eliminate fear.

8. Provides assistance to the Family Service Advocate in Family Service activities as requested.

9. Assist with food service tasks as needed.

10. Drive the bus as required or act as a Bus Monitor as required.

11. Safely operate a school bus over a specified route to local destinations according to a time schedule.

12. Provide daily checks of vehicles as required.

13. Plan and schedule routine bus maintenance and cleaning as required.

14. Request and schedule bus repairs according to guidelines.

15. Maintain all required records.

16. Provide transportation services to field trips, health appointments, scheduled therapy, etc. as requested.

17. Teach children and adults transportation safety precautions and procedures.

18. Eats meals with the children, when requested.

19. Assist in all cleaning duties in the center as requested or required.

20. Assist with parent meetings or trainings.

21. Recruit children for the Head Start and Early Head Start Programs.

22. Attend and participate in meetings, work groups, team meetings, committees, workshops, individual training and training conferences as assigned, which may include local, state, regional and national groups. This includes attending pre-service and in-service training.

23. Work to obtain volunteer and in-kind contributions for the Agency. Submit necessary documents as requested.

24. Works in the Head Start or Early Head Start classroom as requested by Supervisor.

25. Comply with Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency Policies and Procedures, all Head Start Performance Standards, and Mid-Cumberland Head Start Operations Manual, and other applicable Early Childhood Standards such as DHS Licensing Standards, CACFP, TN Department of Health, and NAEYC Accreditation Standards

26. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Candidate with a medical background, including CAN, MA, is preferred. Current CDL license minimum of a Class C with a PS endorsement

Experience: Intermediate computer skills and previous work with medical records, health screenings, or other medical experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.91 - $16.90 per hour
