The responsibilities of this position primarily consist of teaching Math courses at Mid Michigan College. This position holds accountability for instruction, curricular development, student assessment, and evaluation of a diverse student population. Curricular responsibilities include serving as Lead Faculty for courses to be determined in consultation with the Dean. Teaching responsibilities may include face-to-face classes at the Mount Pleasant, and Harrison campuses, as well as dual credit classes in local schools, and online classes.
 
**This is a one-year, temporary position. Wage is $1000 per contact hour. There shall be no right to grieve non-renewal beyond the expiration of the temporary contract.**
  1. Develops and updates course syllabi.
  2. Teaches assigned course content utilizing a variety of presentation methods.
  3. Observes and assesses student learning competencies providing timely feedback to students.
  4. Schedules office hours for assisting students.
  5. Maintains and reports appropriate classroom records, including posting students' grades and attendance in MidWeb.
  6. Communicates student assessment results to department faculty and administrators.
  7. Participates in professional development opportunities, particularly to maintain current professional expertise in psychology and sociology.
  8. Serves on shared governance and program related committees.
  9. Adheres to divisional objectives, policies, procedures. Recommends changes to procedures as necessary to improve the efficacy of the program.
  10. Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, values, and customer service initiatives. Adheres to the organization’s policies and procedures, and compliance guidelines.
  11. Per the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), a federal consumer protection law, your job position entails functions that meet the definition of a Campus Security Authority (CSA).  CSAs have a duty to report any crime to the College’s Clery Compliance Officer. This information may be disclosed to them directly, through third-party, or witnessed. As a CSA, you are required to complete annual training which is provided by the College. This training encompasses your role, responsibilities, and reporting obligations.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Certification, Licensure:
  • Master’s degree, or higher, in Mathematics or Statistics is required.
Experience:
  • Two years of teaching experience preferred; ideally at the community college level.    
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Ability to translate educational and professional experience into the student learning environment.
  • Ability to provide positive motivation and encourage student participation.
  • Ability to keep up with new trends and developments in classroom technology.
  • Effective planning, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Written and computer skills needed to prepare course materials.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate and report student learning outcomes.
