Deputy General Counsel

The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. is Seeking to hire a Deputy General Counsel. The Deputy General Counsel acts on behalf of and at the direction of the General Counsel in providing legal advice and counsel to management on a wide variety of legal, regulatory, and business matters, primarily regarding MBN’s operations in the Middle East and North Africa.

SPECIFIC DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for overseas compliance including, without limitation, required corporate filings, contract review, litigation, and policies and procedures (including subsidiary and branch office employee handbooks).
• Reviews and provides advice and counsel on legal policies to ensure that operations are handled in accordance with all relevant laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
• Provides counsel and guidance in response to day-to-day questions from senior managers, outside counsel, and, as directed, governmental bodies.
• Ensures that MBN is compliant with applicable laws and regulations. Identifies potential legal issues related to business practices, procedures, and policies, and provides recommendations to the General Counsel.
• Performs legal research, drafts correspondence, and provides guidance to U.S. and overseas managers, as directed by the General Counsel.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• At least 6 years’ corporate law firm experience (preferably with a focus on multi-national corporations and/or media organizations) or in-house experience, preferably in a multi-national environment or a media organization.
• Licensed in Virginia or eligible to be licensed in Virginia.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex laws and regulations and offer creative, practical, consistent, and sound legal solutions.
• Exceptional interpersonal and oral and written communication skills; ability to represent the company in all internal and external settings with professionalism. (Writing sample required.)
• Litigation experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of and experience with employment law strongly preferred.
• Arabic or French language fluency a plus but not required.
