Under direction of the County Adjuster, performs routine, repetitive clerical work involving the processing of documents in a variety of functions; does other related duties as required.

Responsibilities

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

  • Working with the public, members of the Judiciary, and community health providers.
  • Preparation of time-sensitive documents concerning the admission and/or commitment of individuals to private, county and state psychiatric hospitals.
  • Scheduling of hearings.
  • Assist with other duties of the County Adjuster’s Office, including the review of firearm applications
  • Maintain confidential healthcare records; and
  • Other General administrative tasks.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Degree preferred

Experience: Prior experience with the courts, government, non-profit organizations, or community-oriented programs desired

License: valid NJ driver’s license

Language: Bilingual Spanish preferred

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

-Experience in utilizing various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by local, state, and federal agencies, or related units.

-Must be organized and detail oriented with the ability to act with urgency and uphold confidentiality.

-Ability to analyze and interpret the laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to the committing of persons to county and state hospitals and other institutions.

-Ability to confer with members of the bar, trust officers, representatives of estates, and other persons interested in or concerned persons committed to institutions.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

-Knowledge of the preparation of detailed correspondence.

-Ability to work effectively with the public, members of judiciary, and community health providers.

-Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
