Job Description
Performs the essential duties, responsibilities, and primary functions of the Director of Chaplaincy Services which involves the planning, coordination, implementation, and management of the overall operation of the Chaplaincy Department. The Director of Chaplaincy Services works together with physicians, the hospital staff, administration, Chaplaincy Department employees, volunteer chaplains, and the religious community on a professional basis for the provision of appropriate spiritual care and the general well-being of the patients, their families and friends, and hospital personnel.
SHIFT AND SCHEDULE
Full Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Oversees the overall provision of appropriate spiritual care and comfort by Chaplaincy staff and volunteers to patients, family members and hospital staff.
- Conducts special Chaplaincy Department events/services as need requires.
- Develops and maintains appropriate relationships with the religious community.
- Oversees the financial operation of the Chaplaincy Department.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry, Theology, or Divinity.
- Minimum of three years overall chaplaincy experience in a healthcare setting, or one year of experience and four units of Clinical Pastoral Education. Preferably, this should include at least one year as the Director/Manager of a Chaplaincy Department in a healthcare setting.
- Possesses or is eligible for ecclesiastical endorsement within one year of date of employment from a religious denomination to serve as a healthcare chaplain.

- Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
