Summary : We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic team. This position is perfect for individuals looking to start their career in pharmacy. After completing the training period, the Pharmacy Technician will be skilled in processing orders, compounding IVs, managing inventory, and providing exceptional support to pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities :

20%) Generate reports, manage medication inventory, ensure Automated Dispensing Machines are stocked, resolve narcotic discrepancies, troubleshoot issues, and provide training and assistance to nursing staff regarding medication dispensing.
20%) Compound IV and piggyback medications following aseptic techniques and ensuring all USP 797 guidelines are adhered to.
15%) Print accurate medication labels in a timely manner using computer software.
15%) Manage the filling, reconciliation, and exchange of 24-hour unit dose medicine carts utilizing McKesson robot and Cerner.
15%) Correctly repackage non-unit dose medications using PacMed and McKesson repackager systems.
15%) Replace and fill floor stock, including EMS boxes, crash cart trays, open heart medications, and Omnicell Anesthesia carts, ensuring delivery to appropriate areas; conduct monthly floor stock audits for other hospital departments; stock unit dose areas and IV room as required.

Certifications and Licensures :

Must hold a full Pharmacy Technician license through the state of Michigan, effective October 1, 2015, and maintain this licensure to qualify for this position.

Required Education : A High School Diploma or GED is required.

Other Information : Additional Duties :

Prepare oral and topical solutions and ointments as directed.

Manage phone calls and retrieve documents as needed, assisting the pharmacist on duty with various tasks.

Utilize the MILT 3.0 program to add barcodes to products and check NDC numbers using the PharmNet Inpatient Formulary Manager.

Engage in other assignments as required.

Experience, Training, and Skills :

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following :

Completion of an annual Aseptic Technique exam within 90 days of hire and ongoing yearly thereafter.

Proficient computer skills are mandatory.

Strong mathematical abilities, organizational skills, teamwork, and the capacity to work well under pressure and time constraints.

Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.

Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, with an openness to ongoing professional development through learning opportunities.

Familiarity with medical terminology and prior hospital or retail pharmacy experience are preferred.
