The purpose of this position is to provide support for both technical and nursing staff in and around imaging procedures. These duties will be under direct oversight by technical and nursing personnel. The responsibility is to assist with patient care as it relates to procedure room turn around and department workflow. Duties include: Transporting patients to and from department, safely getting patients on and off imaging equipment, starting with discontinuing I.V. (used during imaging procedures), assist with interventional procedures (taking and recording vital signs), ordering and maintaining room stock, and other support duties as needed. Serves as the "order liaison" for any new orders presented. Responsible for verification, follow up with Physician offices physician offices if additional information is required by the payer for medical necessity verification, obtaining prior authorizations. The order liaison will identify physician offices that may be in need of additional education and follow through with the office managers to insure they understand the ordering process and required information for providing service to their patients. Brings any issues to the attention of the nursing supervisor and covering sick and vacation time for the full time patient service specialist/or other Imaging Aide. The Imaging Aide will be the trainer for any new aide hired for the Imaging Nursing Service department in the future. Responsible f or compliance with temperature logs, and follow up on any maintenance or biomed issues that need to be resolved.
Responsibilities
(60%)* Performs patient registration responsibilities, including insurance verification, pre-certification and obtaining necessary signatures and authorizations for billing and release of medical information according to established procedure. Handle difficult situations that arise with the scheduling and registration process so that patients and referring physicians are satisfied with the outcome. Follows scheduling guidelines so that the patient flow daily is as smooth as possible.
(10%)* Provides education and training to physician offices and patient service specialists on scheduling/registration and insurance related issues regarding orders sent to the department.
(10%)* Transport patient to imaging procedure room and position on table, assist with patient during procedure as necessary. Assists with need of patient while in the department, including distribution of meals and assisting patients to and from restroom.
(20%)* On completion of procedure, move patient to staging area, discontinue I.V., and document any necessary clinical information in Radiology Information System. Assist in preparing imaging procedure room for next case by cleaning, changing linen and returning moveable equipment to proper storage location. Stage patients for imaging procedures: greet patients, if necessary have patient change into hospital gown, complete any clinical documentation, start I.V. when necessary
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the nursing staff with schedule and verifying patients on a daily basis with the nursing radiology schedule.
Assist nursing and technical staff during invasive procedures.
Must diligently observe cardiac monitors, interpret heart rate and rhythm with accuracy, obtain baseline strips, recognize and report arrhythmias, record additional strips throughout shift as needed.
Identifies any changes in a cardiac pattern and any life-threatening dysrhythmias and notifies the appropriate Registered Nurse within an appropriate time frame.
Must successfully pass dysrhythmia testing with an 80% score or higher during pre-employment process. Maintains stock for department.
Maintains temperature log. Transport patients to and from imaging department.

Certifications and Licensures
Credential:BLS: Basic Life Support
Equivalent Experience: Within 1 month of hire or transfer.

Equivalent Experience: 1) New hires on or after April 1, 2020 will be required to have a current CNA certification and keep it active must hold an internal MidMichigan Health Patient Care Technician certification or a current State of Michigan registry document as a certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or completion of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification culminating in licensure in the State of Michigan or completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse Program culminating in licensure in the State of Michigan or successful completion of one semester of nursing clinical education by an Accredited Registered Nurse Program or Medical Assistant with the following: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologist (AMT), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), OR equivalent Medical Assistant Credential such as Certified Clinical Medical Assistant CCMA, etc. 2) Current Care Assistants as of April 1, 2020 who do not have a current CNA will be grandfathered in and not required to obtain the certification as long as they stay in their current classification.3) Current Care Assistants as of April 1, 2020 who do have a current and active CNA will be required to maintain and keep active their certification as long as they are in their current classification.4) Internal transfers after on or after April 1, 2020 will be required to obtain the CAN certification or complete the internal MyMichigan Health Patient Care Technician certification within six (6) months of their transfer date. Once obtaining their certification, they will be required to maintain and keep the certification active while in employed in either classification.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
One to two years of experience in a clinical setting is required.
Experience with I.V. set up preferred.
Excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure and time management skills required.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
