What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compact Equipment Sales position at Midwest Equipment and Supply?

The Compact Equipment Sales Manager will be responsible for establishing and building relationships with customers to generate sales, profit, and market share objectives for an assigned territory. The position will collaborate closely with other District Sales Managers, Service Managers and Parts Managers to follow up on leads, provide customers with new product information, and answer any questions regarding equipment, parts, and service to ensure customer needs are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with team to identify, target and grow customers’ equipment, parts, and service sales opportunities within your assigned territory. This includes but not limited to new/used equipment, service repairs, and undercarriage
  • Continually seek and update knowledge on products, markets, application, selling, and services available to all customers
  • Promote the use of manufacturers’ sales programs and available resources to attain sales goals and continued sales growth
  • Focus on selling and promoting Takeuchi, Finn, and all utility product lines to meet customer needs and sales goals. This includes, but not limited to skid-steer loaders, mini excavators, compact loaders, compact track loaders, hydroseeders, and material blowers
  • Prepare and present sales, parts, and service quotes to customers
  • Establish long term partnerships with customers, while growing and developing the market share within assigned territory
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customers on equipment recommendations, financial analysis, product knowledge, deals, and questions
  • Assist customers with emergency needs during non-scheduled workdays/hours
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing demonstrations or diagnostic procedures
  • Establish a system and regular contact schedule documenting all customer interactions in CRM
  • Conduct routine machine visits and complete 50-point walkaround inspections, presenting information to customers
  • Promote product support technology to all customers and provide training on usage as needed.
  • Participate in local trade association functions
  • Manage expectations and needs to prioritize customer needs against scheduling, parts availability, and machine down time
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills and/or Qualifications

  • Experience pulling equipment via pickup truck and trailer
  • Mechanical aptitude with a strong competence in machine evaluation, under carriage measurement, and accurate quoting
  • Knowledge in quote/sale conversation in a competitive market
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to write and communicate in English
  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills
  • Strong customer service and relationships building skills
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated, with ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Ability to be persuasive while providing top-notch customer service and remaining dedicated to the bottom line
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all customers, fellow employees, and other business associates
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • DOT physical may be required
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen

Working Conditions

  • Ability to carry, push, and lift up to 60lbs
  • Ability to climb and stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to work in all types of weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, and dirt)
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Daily travel within territory with potential for some overnight visits

Education and Experience

  • A college degree or equivalent combination of education with a minimum of 2 years of customer facing sales experience, preferred
  • Experience within the construction or agriculture industry equipment, parts, and service sales is a plus
  • CRM experience, preferred
