Summary – The Assistant Golf Professional, under the general direction of the Head Golf Professional, is responsible for the successful coordination and execution of daily golf operations, programming and visitor services. It is the responsibility of the Assistant Golf Professional to complete all assigned duties, tasks, instructions and/or work orders in a safe, efficient and timely manner. This position is suitable for transitional duty.
Primary Responsibilities |

- Greet visitors entering Mill Creek Golf Course
- Assist with customer service and cashier duties including answering calls, fee collection and booking tee times
- Provide customers with relevant information and resources including rules, regulations and program promotions
- Answer general questions about Mill Creek Golf Course and the game of golf
- Serve as a liaison between Mill Creek MetroParks and the Golf Community
- Manage, organize and promote golf outings, clinics, special events and leagues
- Assist with tournament operations including planning, pre-tournament contracts, post- tournament billing, promotion, course set-up, preparation, scoring, prize distribution, and follow up
- Use PGA tools and resources to assist in player development programs
- Assist with men’s, women’s, and junior golf events and instruction programs
- Coordinate and assist with coaching the facility’s PGA Junior league team(s)
- Maintain tournament operations computer program
- Provide club repair and club fitting services
- Promote, develop and coordinate visitor services for all golf programming at the Par-3 Course, including tournament and clinic
- Assist with yearly golf operation and program planning
- Attend conferences, recreation shows, workshops, trade shows to keep abreast of marketing and golf related

- Open and/or secure the facility as scheduled
- Assist with reviewing and maintaining all necessary records including but not limited to timecards, paid time off requests, training mandates and administrative tasks
- Communicate effectively and professionally with coworkers and visitors
- Assist in the inventory control of hard goods, soft goods and special orders including: ordering/receiving procedures, inputting into point of sale, pricing procedures, changing displays weekly and merchandise sales
- In the absence of the Head Golf Professional provide leadership, direct supervision and support to employees
- Assist in management of practice facility and cart operations/maintenance, making recommendations for replacement and/or repairs as necessary
- Assist with scheduling daily work projects and personnel required
- Perform routine inspections of shop areas, lawns, restrooms and parking lots for proper maintenance, cleanliness etc.

- Provide intra-department support and assist with coordinating golf activities with other departments
- Keep supervisors informed of essential issues and report disturbance to proper authorities

Essential Knowledge, Abilities and Skills |
- Must be able to maintain a continuous positive attitude and professional appearance
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations
- Must possess proficient technological skills and abilities including the operation of standard computer equipment, software, fax/copier and smart phone capabilities
- Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to a wide variety of audiences in both verbal and written form
- Ability to perform First Aid, CPR and operate the facility’s AED
- Must be able to work weekdays and weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled
Education/Qualifications |
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must possess and retain a valid Driver’s License
- Minimum of one (1) year progressive experience in golf and/or event coordination preferred
- Possess or have the ability to achieve CPR, AED and First Aid Certification
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- PGA Member or registered PGA Apprentice preferred

- Must be physically able to perform all tasks inherent to the position
- Ability to see, hear and effectively communicate with others
- Ability to walk, traverse or otherwise access trails of all types, natural terrain, construction sites and all properties under control of Mill Creek MetroParks under all types of conditions
- Ability to stand, sit, bend, stoop and walk for lengthy periods of time and walk up/down stairs
- Ability to sit at desk and view screen display for extended periods of time
- Hand dexterity, ability to grab, push, pull and type
- Ability to lift 50 pounds (golf equipment)
