What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician position at Mill?
Role Description:
As Lab Technician you will be part of the Mill Engineering team helping to bring new consumer hardware products to life.
What you’ll do
- Create and modify test setups with direction from partner Engineers, covering both electrical and mechanical aspects of Hardware Development.
- Perform electrical rework and mechanical modifications of prototype devices
- Run data collection experiments, with procedures co-developed with partner engineers.
- Execute Reliability and Validation test plans with procedures co-developed with partner engineers
- Maintain lab equipment, materials inventory and infrastructure including overall lab cleanliness.
- Maintain regular communication with immediate team and cross-functional partners to share out key findings, critical updates, etc.
What you’ll need
- Experience or Training working in a hardware lab environment
- Ability to work autonomously with exceptional prioritization and time management skills
- Strong communication skills to take complex science topics and learnings to share with cross-functional partners
- Excellent soldering skills
- Proficiency with hand tools including drills, dremels, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.
- Experience with machine shop tools (CNC, mill, lathe) is a plus.
- Proficiency in various computer programs such as Google Suite, Jira, or equivalent
- Experience with running test scripts across multiple platforms
The estimated base salary range for this position is $120k to $151k, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs. At Mill, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
