Millennia Professional Services is a full-service civil engineering, land surveying, and geotechnical firm with Illinois offices in Fairview Heights, Morton, and Downers Grove, and an office in St. Louis, Missouri. We are seeking candidates to fill the position of Materials Technician in our Fairview Heights, IL location.
Millennia is seeking a Materials Technician with 0*-10* years of experience.
Materials Technicians perform a variety of testing on construction materials such as soils, concrete, and asphalt. On-site materials testing is conducted on various commercial and transportation construction projects. Occasionally, working with engineering inspection and surveying departments may be required.
Position responsibilities include:
- Perform field testing on construction materials for IDOT/MoDOT
- Sample and test soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt
- Perform testing and observations on commercial, residential, and government construction projects
- Prepare daily reports on observation activities
Ideal candidates should meet the following requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 0-10 years construction experience
- The following certifications are not required, but employee must be able to get within first 12 months of hire:
- ACI concrete field-testing
- PCC I
- Nuclear Gauge / Radiation Safety
- Valid driver license
- Must be able to work independently
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical concepts
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbally
- Flexibility to work extended or nontraditional hours as needed
- Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Safety focus and attention to detail
