Position Summary
Abrades surfaces of metal castings to remove adhering scale, shell, and dirt, and to impact specified finish by performing the following duties.
Pay Scale: $16.00 - $17.50
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Shovels or pours abrasives such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper
- Loads parts into cabinets
- Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle or into tumbling barrel.
- Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surface of parts.
- Directs nozzle over surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove fitted cabinet openings and manipulates small parts under nozzle for specified interval.
- Examines finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Check sandblast cabinets after each break & end of shift, and check the blast nozzle for wear
- Check appearance of the Aluminum Oxide blast media, dispose of media that appears “powdery”, replenish cabinet with new blast media
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Minimum experience required 0-3 years
- High School diploma preferred not required
- Ability to understand basic English
- Be able to follow basic instruction and work direction
- Requires basic math skills
- Requires basic computer skills

- While performing duties of the job, the employee is required to:
- Stand for entire shift
- Repetitive-continuous use of hands to finger, handle or feel
- Reach with both hands and arms
- Frequently required to walk, lift and/or move up to 35 lbs
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and depth perception
- Noise level is usually loud
- Use of Goff Machine when needed
- Use of Tumble Machine when needed
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles
- Prescribed safety equipment must be worn at all times

2- 1st Shift Hours are from 7:00am-3:30pm
2- 2nd Shift Hours are from 4:00pm-12:30am
1 - 1st shift for Bldg 3 for Juan Rodriguez
Overtime if needed- depending on department demands.
Salary : $16 - $18
