The Associate in the Tax department is responsible for preparing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and institutions, ensuring that all tax-related filings are compliant with federal, state, and local tax regulations, and advising clients regarding taxation issues and providing workable solutions within legal bounds.

Job Summary
The Associate in the Tax department is responsible for preparing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and institutions, ensuring that all tax-related filings are compliant with federal, state, and local tax regulations, and advising clients regarding taxation issues and providing workable solutions within legal bounds.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Check data input or verify totals on forms prepared by others to detect errors in arithmetic, data entry, or procedures.
- Compute taxes owed, following tax form instructions and tax tables for federal, state, and/or international income tax compliance and planning.
- Consult and research tax law handbooks to determine procedure for preparation of atypical returns.
- Prepare income tax return forms for individuals and businesses such as Partnerships, C-Corp, S-Corp., LLP, LLC, Estates and Trusts.
- Review financial records, such as prior tax return forms, income statements, and expenditures to determine forms needed to prepare return.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with at least two classes in taxation, or equivalent course work with a bachelor’s degree in another subject.
- Master’s degree in Taxation.
- One to two years of tax preparation experience of individual, pass-through entity, and corporate returns.
- Experience with UltraTax, Go Systems, or other tax preparation software.
- Emotional intelligence and empathy in dealing with colleagues and clients.
- Excellent email, voice message, virtual teams and IM etiquette.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Humility in receiving instruction and correction.
- Passion for learning.
- Paperless office experience preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
