Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join our legal team. The Legal Assistant will provide vital support to attorneys by managing case files, conducting legal research, and ensuring effective communication with clients.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with case preparation by conducting legal research and drafting documents.
- Perform data entry, filing, and clerical tasks to support the legal team.
- Review and proofread legal documents for accuracy and compliance with relevant laws.
- Conduct interviews with clients to gather necessary information for case development.
- Prepare fee contracts, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents as required.
- Coordinate project management tasks related to ongoing cases and deadlines.
- Utilize legal research tools such as LexisNexis and X-Spouse to assist in case analysis.
- Maintain communication with clients regarding case updates and requirements while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a law office setting is essential; paralegal experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with various areas of law including but not limited to family law, criminal law, personal injury law, and general civil litigation.
- Proficient in legal administrative tasks including document review, writing skills, legal drafting, and proofreading.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent research skills with experience in legal case management.
- Proficiency in using document management systems and software relevant to the legal field.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to providing exceptional executive administrative support.
