The Microprocessor Technician reports to the Engineering Services Leader and performs maintenance activity for plant electrical, instrument, HVAC, communications, weighing systems, and process control systems.
Overview
The Microprocessor Technician’s primary responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical and electronic components throughout the facility, including auxiliary equipment. This position is responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and improving PLCs and their programming and participating in improvement initiatives involving the digital transformation of Duncan Stewart.
Schedule
7am – 5pm M-F with weekends and evenings as needed

The Microprocessor Technician’s primary responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical and electronic components throughout the facility, including auxiliary equipment. This position is responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and improving PLCs and their programming and participating in improvement initiatives involving the digital transformation of Duncan Stewart.
Schedule
7am – 5pm M-F with weekends and evenings as needed
Job Requirements
- Actively participate in the Duncan Stewart safety process. This includes complying with all safety rules and procedures, being active on a safety team, and achieving 100% in Safey Engagement.
- Work the scheduled hours.
- Be available for after hour support on weekend / evenings as required.
- Able to interact effectively with management, staff, vendors, customers, and work independently, and/or as part of a team.

- Written and verbal communication skills.
- 2 year electrical, electronics, or electro-mechanical degree from an accredited school or a demonstrated equivalent.
- Be able to read and understand P& ID and electrical drawings.
- Ability to size conductors as well as install rigid or flexible conduit associated with field instrumentation installations.
- Basic understanding of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and PLC’s and the I/O’s that interface with the field instrumentation.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and be capable of using industrial motorized equipment including lift trucks, boom lifts, etc.
- Have a basic knowledge of industrial processes to include drive systems, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to operate Powered Indistrial Equipment (lift truck, walk behind lift, pallet jack)
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in an industrial environment.
- PLC programming including graphic interfaces
