Your Role:
The Principal Scientist, Medicinal Chemist is a key role in the AI-enabled Drug Discovery (AIDD) group. You will lead and contribute to the design, synthesis, and optimization of small molecules for drug discovery projects. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to advance projects from hit identification through lead optimization and into preclinical development.
In this role, you will be typically involved in activities, such as:
Lead and manage medicinal chemistry projects from hit identification through lead optimization to candidate selection.
Design, synthesize, and evaluate novel chemical compounds with potential therapeutic applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including biology, pharmacology, and ADMET (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity) to advance drug discovery programs.
Use AI/ML techniques for compound design and optimization.
Present research findings and project updates to internal and external stakeholders.
Stay current with scientific literature and advancements in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery.
Contribute to patent applications and scientific publications.
This role is located at our Billerica, MA facility. We offer a flexible hybrid work schedule.
Who You Are:
Strong knowledge of organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry principles, computational techniques, and drug discovery processes.
Proven track record of successful drug discovery projects, including publications and patents.
Expertise in structure-based drug design and AI/ML driven compound design
Experience of alternative modalities e.g. bifunctional protacs, molecular glues or ADCs is preferred.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD (or BSc. / MSc.) in chemistry, computational chemistry or a related scientific field
At least 6 years of drug discovery experience gained in a pharmaceutical or biotech research environment.
Chemistry / project leadership experience
