POSITION SUMMARY
Working with the Technical Director and Associate Technical Director, the Assistant TD participates in the budgeting, engineering, drafting, overseeing construction and load-in/out of scenery for all Milwaukee Rep productions. The primary role of the Assistant Technical Director is to facilitate the day to day work of the scene shop by handling the scenic material purchasing and assist in the creation of shop drawings.
Major Duties and Responsibilities Include:
• Oversee the maintenance of scene shop inventory and pricing
• Purchase scenic materials and supplies for each production and general stock
• Process purchase information in a timely and accurate manner
• Research and engineer scenic elements as assigned
• Create shop drawings for assigned elements
• Act as lead-TD on assigned productions including accurately budgeting preliminary designs for labor and material costs
• Maintain offsite storage space including helping coordinate all pick-ups and returns
• Coordinate and facilitate production truck and street dumpster rental needs and logistics
• Coordinate all meter bags and special permits for street parking
• Facilitate the maintenance and repair of scene shop equipment
• Maintain safe working environments in all performance spaces and scene shop
• Enforce all safety guidelines and protocols
• Develop scenic load-in and out plans, including labor and special equipment or safety needs for all productions
• Additional duties as required including participation in education and outreach events
SCHEDULE
The bulk of the work hours will happen during regular business hours, with some nights and weekends as the production schedule requires. The start date is negotiable with an anticipated start date of August 8, 2022.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
Technical Knowledge and Experience:
• Experience working in a professional technical theatre environment within the scenery department
• Hands on knowledge of carpentry and/or metalworking techniques for the entertainment industry
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in scenery construction and engineering
• Knowledge in the engineering, build, and implementation of automation
• Skilled in AutoCAD, with ability to generate clear and concise construction drawings in a timely manner
• Possess a valid U.S driver’s license with good driving record and the ability to operate box trucks up to 26’
Additional Requirements:
• Ability to work nights and weekends as required by production schedule
• Physical requirements include: lift 50 pounds unassisted, walk and stand, climb stairs/ladders, operating hand/power tools, and operate a computer for long periods of time
