SUMMARY:
Interprets, organizes, executes and audits progress of broad and complex projects and problems. Defines root cause and effect and uses advanced techniques and theories in field of expertise. Develops solutions, analyze projects with the regular use of ingenuity and innovation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the Following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide problem solving support to manufacturing and our customers; assist QA department peers as requested.
- Champion problem-solving teams, determine root cause(s) for defects; develop, implement, monitor effective corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and reduce scrap cost.
- Promote and maintain a culture and attitude of continuous improvement.
- Work closely with other departments in the design of quality assurance practices, including the development of new gauging, workmanship standards, and work instructions.
- Work with suppliers to ensure material inflow meets company quality standards; establishment of a solid incoming inspection process, facilitating prompt corrective action from suppliers, and audits as necessary at supplier location.
- Support internal change process as needed to ensure necessary validation, documentation, and approvals are obtained per Quality System requirements (PPAP, IPPAAR, IPP, etc…)
- Track and report quality metrics; analyze quality data to evaluate the effectiveness of current processes or proposed changes, support business plan related activity, report to mgmt as needed.
- Performs Quality Awareness training to associates.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow daily housekeeping and 5S standards.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
QE may direct subordinate staff where necessitated in Quality Department organization.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Prefer ME or EE, IE or technical discipline, or Business degree with 1 year Quality experience, or associates degree in business/technical discipline with at least 3 years Quality experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Strong, clear communication skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Strong problem-solving skills, enjoys using a hands-on approach.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate general PC fundamentals and working knowledge of MS Office software.
OTHER SKILLS:
- Strong blueprint interpretation skills.
- Expert in the use of a variety of measuring instruments including calipers and optical comparators.
- Experience in the design of measurement gages and poke-yoke devices.
- Understanding of QA methodologies (calibration, receiving inspection, corrective action, gauging, etc).
