MCAD is seeking a Network Administrator. This position is responsible for operational management and security for MCAD’s networking and telecommunications services, including maintenance, backup, configuration, development, documentation, research, and security. The Network Administrator must be sensitive to college needs, employee and student goodwill, and overall brand equity of MCAD as an employer and educational institution.
DETAILS: This is a full time, exempt position expected to work 40 hours a week. This position reports to AVP of Technology and is paid $65,000-$75,000 annually.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Network Administrator :
- Oversee management of network devices (router, firewall, switches, phones, etc.) administration and reporting.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance and security issues.
- Maintain wireless network and APs.
- Oversee Internet connectivity and serve as main contact with primary/secondary ISPs.
- Maintain network security by logging, monitoring, managing access control and maintaining up-to-date documentation and policies.
- Act as main contact with primary network support vendors.
- Collaborates with Campus Safety, Facilities and IT staff around Digital Camera, SMS/Door Accesses, and related shared physical security and environmental platforms.
- Provide backup for other systems administrators as needed (Linux/Windows).
- Telecommunications Specialist:
- Support and maintain MCAD’s IP PBX system (Digium Switchvox) and peripherals, and works closely with support providers/technicians on service issues.
- Works with the AVP, Technology to maintain the Telecommunication and network budget.
- Create and maintain documented procedures for ongoing management of equipment and software.
- Oversees basic telephone programming changes and alarm troubleshooting.
- Maintain station and voicemail databases, including departmental chargebacks.
- Provide telephone related support to the college campus, including housing and staff offices.
- Common Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Project management.
- Basic hardware maintenance and network cable pulls, which requires some lifting.
- Department cross-training and coordination.
- HelpDesk support and departmental technical service requests.
- On-call (primary and secondary) for responding to and resolving systems issues occurring outside of business hours.
- Oversee and advise the MCAD community regarding technology data structures, policies, standards, procedures, and methodology.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Represents MCAD’s vision, purpose, and values in day to day work and interactions with MCAD students, staff, faculty, and campus guests, as well as the greater community.
Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s/Associates in MIS, or equivalent work experience, required.
- At least three years work experience in network operations required.
- Experience with the following concepts preferred: basic network protocols and concepts (including TCP/IP, subnetting, Layer2, Layer3, DHCP, DNS, BGP, spanning tree, wireless infrastructure), management of enterprise networking equipment (ex. Fortinet, Aruba and HP), access control lists (ACLs), basic IP routing, ethernet switching, and server operating systems (ex. Linux, Windows).
- Prior experience with managing a digital telephony system (SIP/VOIP) preferred.
- Working knowledge of network services (ex. DHCP, DNS, spanning tree, RADIUS, Linux/Unix, workstation operating systems (ex. Mac OS, Windows, iOS), and version control.
- Experience with a Higher Education environment is preferred.
- Strong problem solving skills and technical aptitude.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate communication and collaborate across campus, from individuals to departments.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets.
