JOB SUMMARY: The Drop in Center Support worker will create and maintain a safe, comfortable drop in
environment and cultivate relationships with adult Native American women and Two Spirit relatives
experiencing homelessness, with a special emphasis on relatives at risk for commercial sexual
exploitation/sex trafficking, and SUD/Opioid Use Disorder.
NOTE: In this position, you will be confronted on a daily basis with crisis situations affecting the
Native American community. These may be people that are unhoused or live in extreme
poverty, are dealing with sexual violence and/or domestic violence, may be sex trafficked,
current sex workers, or in active addiction or receiving treatment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with Native American women and families, including families involved in
- Knowledge and understanding of systems of violence and trauma, including inter-generational
- Lived experience or Bachelor's degree in social work or similar degree desired; community and

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide a safe, comfortable drop in center setting for relatives coming in needing a shower,
- Ensuring relative client safety, maintaining upkeep/cleanliness of space throughout the day as
- Work in collaboration with MIWRC FHPAP (Family Homeless Prevention and Assistance
long standing community partners.
- Knowledge of community Substance Use Disorder and Opioid Use Disorder.
- Establish partnership contacts with harm reduction entities.
- Assist in identifying available Housing support systems, including emergency shelter, short-term
- Provide individual Assessment of immediate needs, in-house service identification, safety
planning and Housing services eligibility screening, external service referral, and demographic
data collection.
- Record and keep accurate and up-to-date client files in both paper and electronic formats.
- Assist in outreach efforts to the American Indian population.
- Assist in recruitment and training of volunteers and interns as appropriate.
- Prepare monthly reports for supervisor and maintain statistical data.
- Attend training and meetings as required by the position.
- Respond to other duties as assigned.
