What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graphic Designer / Production Assistant position at Minuteman Press?
Minuteman Press is looking for an experienced designer with an interest in the print production industry. More than just a graphic designer, this position will work with a team of creatives to ensure accurate printing and finishing of projects.
To ensure success, he/she will have to conceptualize visual designs for printing such as brochures, labels, flyers, business cards, and a range of other marketing materials, prepare mockups, create the final designs for printing and ensure that the dimensions and technical specifications are suitable for printing. Our ideal candidate should have a good understanding of color calibration and technical printing standards, and a keen eye for detail.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborating and brainstorming with the creative team to define design and print requirements.
- Rendering and presenting design mockups for revision and feedback.
- Implementing feedback revision and creating final designs for printing.
- Reviewing and proofreading designs to ensure that copy, layout, and dimensions are print-ready.
- Assist in the printing process to ensure color quality and consistency.
- Managing the timelines and workflow of print design projects.
- Communicating updates, feedback, and issues with the clients, managers, and the creative team.
- Maintaining the brand's consistency across all designs and printed materials.
- Keeping up to date with the latest design trends, techniques, and printing standards.
- Contributing to team efforts by accomplishing other tasks as needed.
- Creating a wide range of graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and websites with Adobe Suite Software.
- Operate digital printing and store finishing equipment (cutting, slitting, creasing, padding, collating).
- Interact directly with various customers daily in person, by phone and by email.
- Ensure the completion of print projects by their deadlines.
- Using appropriate programs to create print-ready files like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and In-Design.
- Maintain a professional appearance in attire and speech when talking to clients.
- Perform normal office functions and maintenance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or related field.
- A minimum of two years' experience as a print designer or a similar role.
- A strong portfolio of print design work.
- Proficiency in design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- The ability to manage multiple design projects and perform well under pressure.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to learn new software and techniques.
- A strong eye for visual composition.
- Able to give and receive constructive criticism.
- Understanding of marketing, production, corporate identity, product packaging, advertisements, and multimedia design.
- Strong PC computer skills.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
