What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health Counselor position at Miravista Behavioral Health Center?
The Mental Health Counselor, under the supervision of the Charge Nurse and Nursing Director, is responsible for maintaining a safe therapeutic milieu on inpatient psychiatric units. The role involves conducting safety checks, patient monitoring, assisting with ADL’s, de-escalating acute situations, and providing supportive interactions with patients.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health, Human Services or related field strongly preferred.
Experience: Previous psychiatric/substance inpatient experience preferred. Previous PCT/PCA experience applicable.
Skills: Sufficient typing and computer skills to facilitate use of Electronic Health Record required; experience with Electronic Health Record, including Medsphere/Vista preferred. Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to develop a therapeutic relationship while maintaining professional boundaries; ability to manage stressful situations in a calm, organized, and professional manner.
