Inter Tribal Sports (ITS)
Job Title: Part-Time Program Aide.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.
Pay Range: $17 -19 per hour.
ABOUT INTER-TRIBAL SPORTS:
Unifying tribal youth and communities through structured athletic programs while providing necessary resources and developing a strong foundation in culture, leadership, and wellness. The foundation for ITS is our year-round co-ed athletic programs. Our core sports are basketball, flag football, softball, and soccer. We also have our All-Star Travel Basketball Teams, Dream Catchers Cheer, and our new sports program Cross Country. Games are hosted by participating tribes and organizations. Each season begins with a sports camp, opening day, and regular season games and ends with a championship celebration.
SUMMARY:
Serve as the on-site point of contact for the organization at league and event locations. Assist with
registration, participant eligibility verification, and data collection. Disperse information to
participants, their families, and other Tribal community members. Complete necessary forms,
maintain sign-in sheets, and prepare event reports and data. Ensure programs remain on
schedule and serve as primary contact for officials, scorekeepers, and coaches.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist in program site set-up and preparation of facilities.
- Assist with player and team registration.
- Ensure participant eligibility verification through maintenance of updated official rosters
- Disperse information to participants, their families, and other tribal community members.
- Complete necessary forms, maintain sign-in sheets, and prepare event reports and data.
- Assist in the collection of data for grant compliance purposes.
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Maintain a properly stocked first aid kit, attend to minor injuries, and contact emergency
- medical technicians for serious cases.
- Maintain a log of incidents, including injuries, altercations, and rules and eligibility
- infractions.
- Work with site representatives to ensure playing fields, surfaces, and facilities are safe and
- properly set up.
- Ensure programs remain on schedule and serve as primary contact for officials,
- scorekeepers, and coaches.
- Enforce league rules and regulations as approved by the Board of Directors.
- Distribute, collect, maintain, and inventory all equipment belonging to the organization.
- Provide timely reports of game results and statistics to the Program Manager.
- Coordinate program activities and special projects to ensure quality and meet timetables.
- Recommend and coordinate needed changes based on process analysis.
- Coordinate schedules of scorekeepers and other volunteers.
- 20. Serve as scorekeeper or official in the absence of volunteers or contractual or assigned
- personnel.
- Communicate with other Supervisors and Managers. Inform the Program Manager of the complex
- or out-of-policy operation problems.
- Attend training and staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and staff the organization’s information and merchandise booth.
- Sell merchandise and snacks, accept donations, and assist in other on-site fundraising
- efforts.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a
- high school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of sports terminology, rules, fundamentals, and coaching strategies is required.
- Proficient computer skills including, but not limited to, experience with e-mail, the internet, and
- Microsoft Word.
- Familiarity with Native American culture and previous experience playing in or coaching
- Inter Tribal Sports are preferred.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Assertiveness and self-confidence to control contentious situations.
- First Aid/CPR certification, or obtain it within 90 days.
- Valid Class C California Driver's License.
- Must pass a drug screening test and criminal background check.
- Must be available to work irregular hours, including weekends and evenings.
- Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner.
- Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Must be reliable and dependable.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions are typically in outdoor or recreation facility settings. While performing the
duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The
employee must have stamina to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. The employee must
occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift objects weighing
as much as 50 pounds, or assist in lifting objects in excess of 100 pounds.
NATIVE PREFERENCE:
In the event that two or more candidates are equally qualified for an open position, Inter Tribal Sports
will at all times give hiring preference in the following order; (1) Native Americans from the
communities served by Inter Tribal Sports, (2) Native Americans from outside of the communities
served, and (3) all others.
