Mission University provides clinical rotations and internships for students in medical, physician assistant, nursing, public health, and other academic healthcare programs to apply as credit toward their degree at their home university program of study, while implementing permanent, community-based Global Public Health improvement projects in underserved areas around the world. We also work with medical and allied health professionals who have already graduated and looking to extend their leadership professional development while positively impacting others.
We partner with international nonprofit humanitarian and governmental agencies to provide transformational experiences for students while supporting impoverished communities in the US and globally. Each program includes clinical preceptorships, a portfolio project, experiential, field-based learning, leadership development, and eligibility for academic credit and completion of clinical rotation hours at the participant's home institution.
Role Description
We are currently accepting applications for 2025 clinical rotations in Omaha, NE (USA), This is an in-person Clinical Practicum role during the 2025 calendar year at Mission University. The student will engage in population health oriented care related to global public health, communication, leadership, training, and research to support global health initiatives and community well-being at one of several US-based partner locations in Omaha, NE.
NOTE: These are unpaid internships and participant will be expected to contribute funding to support their own travel expenses. The student must have approval by their home program advisor/dean to receive academic credit (contact us for coordination assistance).

The clinical sites where Mission University students and professionals complete their clinical rotations range from inner-city orphanages and homeless to rural primary health clinics in and around Omaha, NE. Typical diagnoses of the populations we address include illnesses due to poverty: tuberculosis, chronic diarrhea, malnutrition, parasitosis, and chronic respiratory diseases. Small groups of students complete 40 hours per week of field-based clinical, experiential learning through a combination of assessments, referrals, and education to underserved inner-city and rural health populations.
The rotations include:
-Global Humanitarian/Public Health emphasis
-Comprehensive inner city and rural community patient care focus in outpatient, community, and primary care clinical settings with daily pre-and-post clinical briefings,
-Two experienced and credentialed faculty to oversee academic program quality,
-Direct collaboration with an interdisciplinary clinical team and international nonprofit organizations,
-Student safety briefings leading up to and during program
