Description:
This position provides general support to the Missouri State Library, which includes the Library Development, Reference Services, and Wolfner Library divisions.
Job Functions and General Responsibilities:
- Monitors State Library email inboxes and responds accordingly.
- Provides weekly coverage at Secretary of State Office front desk answering phones and directing visitors.
- Approves, processes, and keeps track of reserved STEM Kits circulating to public and school libraries.
- Assists Administrative Assistant with payments, grant support, and other financial activities.
- Uses SAMII to input biweekly data entries for time and leave reporting.
- Prepares, distributes, and files library annual reports and monthly newspaper clippings.
- Keeps library records up to date, including the Missouri Library Directory, Grant Management System accounts, and email listservs.
- Organizes and sends documents through SMART system for record retention.
- Assists with organizing and updating library permanent files and also helps conduct historical research projects for libraries.
- Assists with updates to library resource guides, catalog records, and State Library website.
- Assists with maintenance of the physical collections of the State Library, including reshelving, shifting, shelf-reading, inventory, cleaning, etc.
- Assists State Library consultants and librarians with special projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently as well as a team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and reach shelves for book placement and retrieval.
- Ability to manage several assignments effectively, accurately, and independently.
Qualifications:
High school diploma and one to two years of general office work. Experience with SAMII and Missouri Buys is preferred as well as some knowledge or interest in libraries.
