The Admissions Department is now selecting students for the summer GO sessions! If you’d like to help welcome new students to Missouri Western State University, come join us in this fun work opportunity!
The Orientation Leader will serve as a member of the Office of Admissions staff to facilitate and implement orientation programs in order to assist new students and families in their transition to Missouri Western State University. Orientation Leaders provide the vital student connection that supports the yield of incoming students. This is a short-term appointment that students may re-apply for each year.

Essential Duties
These duties assist with the retention and yield of incoming students:
- Facilitate and lead group discussions with new students and their families
- Share knowledge of the university and assist students and guests with questions
- Serve as a role model for incoming students and peers
- Send individualized follow-up communication in the form of emails and or postcards to student attendees
- Monitor and facilitate conversation in a group chat with incoming students
- Operate microphones, speakers, and other technologies
- Assist with event set up and decorations including signage, balloons, outdoor yard signs, etc.
- Understand and support the goals of the Office of Admissions transition programs.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- MWSU Student
- Have completed one (1) full semester at Missouri Western State University (undergraduate 12 credit hours, graduate 6 credit hours)
- Students must be a part-time or full-time degree-seeking student
- May need to qualify for federal work study financial aid assistance.
- Not currently on academic or disciplinary probation.

Physical Demands
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Additional Demands
Training:
- Attend mandatory Orientation Leader Training in the Spring
- Attend Orientation training in June as determined by the Assistant Director of Admissions for Orientation and Campus Visits.
