What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production - Shift Supervisor position at Mitchell Plastics?
Role Overview: As a Shift Supervisor, you will be crucial in organizing and managing resources to ensure that production schedules are met while maintaining our approved quality standards. You will oversee operations during your shift, address deviations, and lead efforts to achieve high productivity and safety on the shop floor.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Production Management: Organize resources to produce products as per the schedule and approved quality standards. Address any deviations from the schedule and take corrective actions or escalate as needed.
Quality Assurance: Ensure that products meet approved “First-off” and conform to established quality standards. Verify that processes remain stable and within QIR tolerances.
Shift Leadership: Direct and assign personnel on off-shifts to meet production goals. Maintain accurate shift production reports.
Workplace Safety: Lead by example to ensure high productivity, morale, and safety. Maintain high standards of housekeeping at all times.
Staff Management: Work closely with the Plant Manager, Production Manager, and Human Resources to hire skilled individuals, conduct training, and manage disciplinary actions to control absenteeism and conduct.
Compliance: Enforce all procedures for Quality Assurance, Inventory Control, and Production Control rigorously. Ensure preventive maintenance on tools and equipment is carried out.
Minimum Qualifications:
3 years of Supervisory experience.
Grade 12 education.
Required Skills:
Strong understanding of materials and production processes.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of key Quality & Environmental Management Systems procedures.
Familiarity with forms, tags, and labels related to the job function.
