Overview
The Process Technician is responsible for l oading and unloading product from trucks and railcars , maintaining a clean, organized terminal, and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment . Additional responsibilities may include performing general repairs, scale functions, data entry , inventory tracking , and inspect ions.
Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: L evel I requires at least one year of experience in an industrial terminal environment. Level II requires additional experience.
Certifications: Safety Training as required once on the job.
Knowledge: Working knowledge of railyard operations , maintenance, and inspections.
Skills: Basic computer skills .
Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, operate equipment and perform maintenance duties required. Ability to work under strict deadlines required. Ability to work outdoor s in all types of weather conditions required.
Behaviors: Team player with ability to work under minimal supervision.
Essentials Functions
Conducts railcar, track, locomotive, and truck inspections (hourly, daily, and weekly) to ensure cleanliness and/or proper functioning .
Loads and unloads products into trucks and railcars.
Weighs trucks , records data in electronic system and/or on paper, ensures necessary documentation is in place to comply with customer and legal requirements .
Performs daily railcar switch ing.
Ensures all railcars are labeled correctly by product and are at the correct location .
Traces railcars and releases empty railcars.
Reviews truck tickets for hauling material to confirm the information provided is accurate.
Enters invoice information in tracking and inventory system s .
Prepares reports for daily inventory on all products (silo levels, railcar loads and inbound loads).
Records and reports all inbound and outbound railcar activity to the Terminal Leader.
Participates in safety meetings and assist s with record keeping requirements as needed.
May order materials.
May review and troubleshoot problems in all areas of the terminal.
May p erform daily preventative maintenance and general repairs on equipment (engine oil, transmission oil, lubrication, brakes, tires, etc.) .
May perform w el d ing and torching work .
May p erform backup duties for the Terminal Leader when they are absent.
May lead safety meetings.
P erform s other responsibilities as assigned .
