Purpose of Job
Primary objective is to provide administrative support within the Department, and or Clinic-wide when requested, adhere to all policies and procedures of Murfreesboro Medical Clinic and meet the needs of our patients in a teamwork approach.

Job Description
Murfreesboro Medical Clinic, Patient Accounting Department, seeks an Insurance Refund Clerk to be responsible for reviewing credit accounts to determine the appropriate action necessary to resolve credit balances through utilization of our billing software, including identifying areas of process improvement.

Primary Responsibilities
  • To have a positive attitude and practice teamwork
  • Address patient questions and concerns in friendly and helpful manner
  • Meet or exceed patient, doctor, and staff expectations through a cooperative teamwork approach
  • Greet patients and answer incoming calls in a polite and prompt manner
  • Assist patients with all insurance issues and billing issues as required by the insurance company and the financial guidelines of the Clinic
  • Assist in registration as needed, as well as all other duties of the department
  • Verify eligibility of all patients and handle all billing issues and refiling of insurance claims as needed. Communicate with department coders as needed.
  • Take all steps necessary to make sure a claim is clean and can be processed by the insurance company in a timely manner.
  • Avoid personal telephone calls and personal business during clinic operating hours
  • Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all MMC policies and procedures

  • Ability to utilize computer systems for the purpose of completing assigned tasks
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Skills in communicating effectively with co-workers, providers, and patients
  • Skill in effectively role modeling appropriate behavior
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with patients, providers, and co-workers
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments and meet deadlines as required
Physical/ Mental Demands
  • Varied activities including sitting, walking, bending, reaching, lifting and stooping.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.
  • Stress with multiple responsibilities.
Environmental/Working Conditions • Office setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases
Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience of one year minimum required.
