What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Technician III position at MN Care Services?
Essential Functions Duties would include but not limited to:
1. Timely and accurate completion of: Timesheets and daily activity notes/charting
2. Other documentation/paperwork as required.
3. Adhere to the Vulnerable Adult and Child Abuse and Neglect Policies and Regulations, The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy policies and maintain confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients, families, and employees.
4. Maintain positive working relationships with Designated Coordinator, Human Resources, BT recipients as well as their Responsible Party and /or family members.
5. Independently manage your own time in order ensure assigned tasks are completed each shift.
6. Participate in meetings/care conferences, as needed.
7. Make sure to follow the care plan in the client’s folder.
8. Be dependable, drug free, and able to follow directions.
9. Evaluating the home situation to determine what health teaching will be required, what assistance from family will be provided, and to determine if other services are needed.
10. Coordination and connection to community services
11. Designs, implements, monitors, compiles, and formats data on each persons served target behaviors Develops target behaviors, which allow persons served to reach their potential.
12. Provide skill training in an environment where the skill will be used. Support development of decision-making skills and informed choices in all aspects of daily living, including selection of service providers, goals and methods, location and decor of residence, roommates, daily routines, leisure activities and personal possessions.
13. Ability to teach, coach and mentor consumer on job/school activities, Health management, Household management, organization, and stability.
14. Problems solving assistance and increasing consumers' independence by teaching life skills and activities such as Meal planning, grocery shopping, house cleaning duties, cooking, organizational skills, financial management and self-care
15. Coaching and working with the clients on emergency situations, completing all necessary paperwork and working with the clients to live in their homes as independently as possible
Required Skills and Experience (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge skills and abilities)
- Ability to pass background check clearance from MN Department of Human Services
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving records
- Good attendance and willingness to be adaptable
- Excellent de-escalation experience
- Ability to perform physical interventions to ensure the safety of the individuals served
- Ability to meet the Behavioral Technician competency requirements
- 1 of the 3 items listed below: (additional training, certifications, and leadership experience considered)
· 4-year degree in a related field
· 2-year degree in a related field/2 years of experience including working with residents with high behaviors, behavioral health or psychiatric setting
· 4 years of experience including working with residents with high behaviors, behavioral health or psychiatric setting
Additional Skills and Experience (Preferred or helpful)
· Experience in 245D and MDH licensed homes
· Knowledge and experience with Positive Behavior Support
