*Remote/Hybrid opportunity
Objective: The Payroll/Accounts Payable Specialist position performs various duties in a timely and professional manner according to the department protocol. The position includes processing bi-weekly payroll, A/P, scheduling support, journal entries, mail, supporting documentation, and the completion of special accounting projects that may arise from time to time. The Payroll/Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for complying with established and/or recommending new organization and department policies and procedures.
Essential Duties:
- Know and support the Mission Statement, Policy/Procedures and standards of MMR.
- Prepare supporting documentation for external auditors.
- Work with Finance Department to ensure that financial information is accurately reported.
- Work with information systems to ensure various accounting systems are operating effectively.
- Ensure that transactions from other systems (accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll) are properly classified in the general ledger system.
- Responsible for the Mobile Medical Response payroll.
- Responsible for reporting based on General Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Assist with the processing of accounts payable and maintenance of reports, files and other support information as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skill and Competency Requirements:
- Associate degree preferred.
- Payroll and accounts payable experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of manual computerized systems.
- Possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver license.
- Skills and abilities in Excel and Word.
- Advanced computer skills including the ability to utilize a computer PC with Windows operating system.
- Ability to operate office equipment, including but not limited to, copier, fax machine, scanner, printer.
- Skilled in typing, data entry, electronic filing and document retrieval.
- Professional administrative skills, including management principles and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and the utmost confidentiality.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations governing financial reporting and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Ability to think and work independently, yet function effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, in a professional manner.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Physical Factors: Suitable dexterity to operate standard office equipment. Capability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. High emotional effort. Position can be hectic with periods of high stress. Position requires managing multiple tasks in a timely manner.
Working Conditions: Most work is done in a typical office setting. Inside generally 100%; however, may include outside work on occasion.
